Brandon Lewis MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, and Councillor Richard Parry, at the launch of the Sevenoaks Town Council's Portas Bus on Saturday morning, 23rd June.
Also present was Ken Browse, the Chairman of the National Association of Local [Town and Parish} Councils
The bus will follow a circular route which will include Sevenoaks railway station, the bus station, Knole House and the Stag. The fare will be £2 for a 'hop-on hop-off' ticket. The service is designed to provide a crossover between visitors to Sevenoaks and visitors to Knole, with the objective of boosting the economies of both.Despite the indifferent weather, the first weekend's use of the bus was pretty good and has increased during the week. Sevenoaks Town Council, together with the Town Partnership, see this as another step of business and local government working together to provide jobs and stimulate local businesses.
