“It is a joy to have contributed to some of the great initiatives being taken in the Sevenoaks town area recently” said Margaret Crabtree, Kent County Councillor for the Sevenoaks Town division.
“I’ve been involved in the preservation and promotion of habitats for bees, butterflies and insects with bee and insect hotels. It is really important to maintain a healthy balance in our environment. This photo shows a newly erected insect hotel – which didn’t need any planning permission and could become an interesting hobby for anyone who wishes to set one up."
Margaret has also been involved in the planting of wild garden seed, insect friendly bushes and street tree planting such as those shown here in the accompanying photos. “We are all very aware of the importance of planting trees and this is a high priority due to the advantages in supporting a sustainable environment. We can also enjoy the visual amenity they provide and I am delighted to have been doing my bit by helping to plant some, such as in Betenson Avenue”.
