For many months now we have been stricken by various levels of lockdown, causing quality of life issues for many in Eynsford . Possibly most important is the loss of physical activity and contact with others - especially for those who are at increased risk.
Cllr Alan Cheeseman has therefore decided to set up an ‘Every Step Counts’ walk in Eynsford, starting early 2021, when lockdown permits.
The Eynsford Walk:
Meet every Monday, 11am at the Riverside Tearoom - Stroll or Stride up to 1.3 miles
(speed is entirely up to you, and you don’t have to do it all)
A convivial chat after the walk at the Tearoom - with an optional cuppa and cake (£2.50)
Every Step Counts is a gentle, supportive walking group.
These free, wellbeing walks are for people who would like to get outside, chat and meet people, at the same time as improving or maintaining their fitness. The walk is led by friendly, specially trained volunteers who are on hand to provide encouragement and support, and make sure no one gets left behind. As these walks are designed for those who are less active, the length and the speed of the walk will vary to accommodate our walkers’ differing abilities and needs.
Many of our walkers have made new friends, discovered old ones and this has helped to combat loneliness and encouraged structure, purpose and regular exercise. We find our walkers help each other with their physical and mental journeys.
Every Step Counts has always appreciated how much friendship and a chance to chat is intrinsic to mental health especially during these dark days of Covid 19. Every Step Counts provides a safe and happy environment where walkers are valued and appreciated.
