An important landmark for the Sevenoaks public in general, not just for those with heart conditions, was that a defibrillator was recently installed and now sits ready to save lives, in Vine Gardens.
It was Conservative KCC councillor, Margaret Crabtree collaborating with the Town Council who arranged for the old telephone box, which until quite recently stood languishing and disused at the junction of Blackhall Lane and Seal Hollow Road, to be refurbished, re-sited to The Vine and equipped with this vital piece of medical first aid equipment.
For those who may be interested in learning how to give emergency aid to anyone suddenly suffering a heart attack in the vicinity, look out for training courses that are run by local organisations from time to time.
To enable this old ‘phone box to be converted and relocated, Councillor Crabtree used her Members’ Grant to help to defray the costs. As she asked at the time “What better way to use these funds at my disposal, than to help provide a facility in the centre of the community that can be used to save lives in a medical emergency? I am delighted to be one of those instrumental in making this possible”.I
