Conservative run Sevenoaks District Councils Leader, Cllr Peter Fleming, recently announced that the council is proud to be the Gateway for Kickstart West Kent, the scheme will support local businesses to initially offer 62 entry level positions for young people from across the Sevenoaks district and West Kent, with the expectation of more to follow.
Cllr Fleming went on to say ‘Young people's job opportunities have been particularly badly hit during the pandemic, this initiative has the potential to really help as it provides real opportunities and hope for this age group.’
‘As an employer, Sevenoaks District Council is also pleased to be directly supporting the scheme alongside other local authorities to provide jobs for young people many of whom have found themselves out of work due to the pandemic.’
Through the scheme, businesses are able to access a large pool of young people with potential, looking for an opportunity. The scheme will prioritise young people aged between 16 and 24 who will be supported by their Jobcentre Plus work coach to enrol in Kickstart.
