Sevenoaks Conservative held an Association-wide Hog Roast & Family Fun Day on Sunday 15 July in the beautiful garden of Cllr Anna & Mr Edward Firth who very generously donated it for the day. Anna and her mother, Margaret, also provided most welcome tea and cakes during the afternoon.
Cllr Gary Williamson not only provided the food but expertly cooked it and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. His generosity is much appreciated and we can only marvel at the time he donated to this event.
We were particularly pleased to see so many children and young people at the event, taking advantage of the tennis coaching on offer and enjoying the various musical entertainment provided by various Conservative members and friends, including an endearing children's Suzuki group who melted all our hearts with their violins.
Even the sun shone, which, considering the dreadful start we had to the summer, was most definitely not expected. We had provided marquees for shelter in case of rain, but they were actually used to shelter from the sun!
Our special guests were Richard Ashworth MEP, Jo Johnson MP and Michael Fallon MP, who all made entertaining short addresses.
It was agreed that this was a very successful event and we look forward to our next Association event which is to be an Autumn Party on Sunday 21 October, 7-10pm at the Plaza Suite, Stag Theatre. Tickets will be just £15 to include food (again masterminded by Cllr Gary Williamson) and we see this as an informal social evening with some interesting guests!
Please ring the office on 01732 456211 or e-mail [email protected] for tickets. All are welcome - members, family, friends or just those interested in getting to know like-minded people in the area.
