For the first time in 30 years the beautiful 8-acre gardens will be fully open to guests, and from 3.30 - 6.30pm you are invited to stroll around and take in the sights while enjoying wine and delicious canapes. All members and friends and family are most welcome; there is ample parking on site. 'Farming in the 1940's & 50's'. The Supper Club invites you to enjoy a delicious meal and a fascinating after-dinner talk from Peter Bates on the subject of farming in the 1940s - 50s. Peter Bates was born in 1940, and spent his first 20 years as a farmer’s boy. He was brought up on a 48 acre mixed farm smallholding in the Weald of Kent; with 12 cows, 3 pigs, 30 sheep, 50 chickens and a cart horse; without any mains water until 1947, nor mains electricity until 1961! Clearly a simple happy life, though harsh at times.
